Gelinaz! Food Event Features Male Chefs, Topless Women

This weekend the international food event Gelinaz! took place in Ghent, Belgium. For an event that got some heat for not having very many women involved — just one — there sure were a lot of boobs on display. To kick off the event four topless women in masks carried out timbales; the spectacle seems to be the handiwork of Belgian chef Roger Souvereyns channeling "Cauderlier (And the Naked Lunch too)," per the Gelinaz! Twitter stream. Gelinaz! got criticized for only having one woman in a lineup of 25 chefs, most notably by New York chef Amanda Cohen. Below, the full photo of the half naked women; NSFW obviously.

The event also featured a " Swedish folklore musician playing iron maiden on his fiddle" courtesy Magnus Nilsson, a dish made from "chicken trash" by René Redzepi, a grand finale by Belgian chef Kobe Desramaults, and more.

Gelinaz! also announced a second event during the dinner, this time in Peru hosted by Lima chef Gastón Acurio on September 9. Stay tuned for the schedule on that. Maybe there will be more women this time? Food writer Bruce Palling spoke to Gelinaz! founding member chef Fulvio Pierangelini, who said after Peru, "probably [the event is] going to New York, probably before the end of the yea[r] or if not, probably spring 2014...Meantime, we are working on doing one in January in Paris and after New York, a Free Pussy Russian tour."
