Feast your eyes on Qui, Top Chef: Texas winner Paul Qui's very hotly anticipated namesake Austin restaurant. Today Eater Austin takes a look inside, and his new digs are quite stunning: The industrial design (by architects Eric Barth and Ryan Burke of A Parallel Architecture) features plenty of floor-to-ceiling reclaimed wood fixtures, raw steel, and muted wall art from local muralist Peelander Yellow.
On the menu: There's rabbit prepared seven ways, carrot jerky kimchi and some sort of cheddar cheese ice cream sandwich. Qui will open initially with a 50-seat, no-reservations dining room before expanding with a 10-seat tasting room (possibly to be used with a ticketing system) "in a few months." Don't forget that former Carriage House bartender Michael Simon came all the way from Chicago to man the bar program, so that should be exciting.
Qui's latest addition to his already formidable Austin empire will officially open June 20.
