Eater Scenes: Thirty Acres in NJ, Thursday at 7 P.M.

Hillary Dixler Canavan is Eater's restaurant editor and the author of the publication's debut book, Eater: 100 Essential Restaurant Recipes From the Authority on Where to Eat and Why It Matters (Abrams, September 2023). Her work focuses on dining trends and the people changing the industry — and scouting the next hot restaurant you need to try on Eater's annual Best New Restaurant list.

Welcome to the photo series Eater Scenes, where Eater photographers visit some of the country's great restaurants to capture them at a certain, and very specific, point in the day. Today, Thirty Acres in New Jersey.

Just one year after opening, Jersey City restaurant Thirty Acres has helped put Jersey City on the culinary map. Owned and operated by husband-and-wife team Kevin and Alex Pemoulie — Alex is an Eater Young semi-finalist — the restaurant serves a menu of seasonal dishes that borrow inspiration from across the globe. Eater photographer Daniel Krieger went to Jersey City last Thursday to scope out the scene. Here's what he found at 7 p.m.
