Last week the 2013 class of the Eater Young Guns was announced. Monday night there was an event celebrating the winners; see the Hangover Observations from the party (and also check out the video). In other big Eater news, do say hello to the brand-new Eater sites Eater Detroit and Eater Nashville.

Paula Deen went on the Today show Wednesday to apologize and address the racism in her infamous deposition transcription. And all her major endorsement deals were cancelled: Smithfield Foods, Home Depot, Home Depot, Target, JC Penney, Sears, Kmart, and Walgreens. QVC and Novo Nordisk are "pausing." Also, Ballantine canceled her cookbook even though it hit #1 on Amazon. Caesars Entertainment is closing her four buffet restaurants. Some brands are sticking with Deen: Alice Travel even announced an additional Paula Deen Cruise for 2014. For more on who's in and who's out, see the roundup of all of Paula Deen's endorsement deals.

On the cookbook front, there was a first look at Hot Doug's: The Book by Doug Sohn. And in Heatmaps, see where to eat right now in Columbus, Ohio and Jacksonville, Florida.
