After Fire, Chez Panisse Reopens to the Public Tonight

Chez Panisse makes its long-awaited return this evening after a fire shuttered it back in March. And as owner/dreamer Alice Waters told Eater right after the fire, the building has been remodeled and given a bit of an exterior facelift (see above photo). Berkleyside has more details on the renovations, including a dining alcove made from "salvaged redwood without the use of a single nail." How Berkeley? The restaurant is booked tonight — reservations were opened a month ago — but now that the restaurant's reopened, those wanting a look at that alcove shouldn't have to wait long.
