Krispy Kreme Boldly Distances Itself From the Doughnut Sloppy Joe

Last Friday, Chicken Charlie's chef and fried food scientist Charlie Boghosian saw Dunkin' Donuts' bacon breakfast sandwich and raised them the saucy, meaty, cheddar-laden Krispy Kreme Sloppy Joe. The sandwich, $8, was unleashed this past Saturday at the San Diego County Fair, but Krispy Kreme does not want anything to do with it. Contrary to previous news reports, Krispy Kreme did not collaborate with Boghosian to create the sandwich. Director of Corporate Communications Brian Little told Yahoo Shine, the sandwich is in no way "created, endorsed, or marketed by the company."

Boghosian is also the proud creator of such healthful foods as the deep-fried bacon-wrapped pickle and deep-fried Kool-Aid. The sloppy joe is evidently Boghosian's second go at a doughnut sandwich; his first (which is still on the menu) features a honey-drizzled chicken breast layered between two glazed doughnuts. The non-Krispy Kreme-endorsed glazed doughnut sloppy joe will be available exclusively at the fair, which ends July 4, so hurry along.
