Chefs Joe Ogrodnek and Walker Stern of the much loved/fairly young Brooklyn restaurant Battersby have signed a deal to write a cookbook for Grand Central Life & Style. The book will be called Battersby: Extraordinary Food from an Ordinary Kitchen, and will be co-written by food writer and frequent chef cookbook collaborator Andrew Friedman, who elaborated on the concept on his website:
The book's focus will be how to cook and serve sophisticated food that isn't overly complicated and which can largely be prepared in advance, then finished and served with a modicum of time and effort. The concept grew organically out of how the restaurant functions; the open kitchen is famously cramped, with room for just three cooks, so the guys have had to develop a repertoire of dishes that fit that description.
He notes that Finnish photographer Tuukka Koski (Bon Appetit, among others) was attached to the book proposal as well. Battersby will be out in 2015.
