Food & Wine has announced the winners of its coveted Best New Pastry Chef award, along with the reader-selected winners of the People's Best New Pastry Chef award. Check out the nominees, and last year's winners. This year's winners are:

Melanie Durant (Empire State South, Atlanta, GA), Monica Glass (Clio and Uni Sashimi Bar, Boston, MA), Sarah Jordan (Boka and GT Fish & Oyster, Chicago, IL), Stephanie Prida (Manresa, Los Gatos, CA), Bob Truitt (Ai Fiori and the Altamarea Restaurant Group, New York, NY). In addition, Jodi Elliot (Foreign & Domestic, Austin, TX) is the winner of the People's Best New Chef 2013 award, an online poll.

New York, NY (May 30, 2013) – For the second year in a row, FOOD & WINE has named the Best New Pastry Chefs in America sponsored by GODIVA. After traveling to taste hundreds of desserts across the country, the editors at FOOD & WINE have determined the five most exciting up-and-coming talents in America's restaurant pastry kitchens.

FOOD & WINE's Best New Pastry Chefs program also includes The People's Best New Pastry Chef award, selected by the dining public in an online poll. The 2013 winner is Jodi Elliot of Foreign & Domestic in Austin. Laura Pyles of Revel in Seattle and Brian Mercury of Harvest in Cambridge, MA are the regional finalists in West and East, respectively.

Professionals who have run a pastry department for five years or fewer are eligible for these awards; all the winners will be featured in the July issue of FOOD & WINE, on newsstands June 14.
