Big Gay Ice Cream Goes to SF; Meatopia UK Is Real

SAN FRANCISCO — New York cult-favorite Big Gay Ice Cream will be slinging soft serve in Golden Gate Park on June 8 for Chipotle's Cultivate festival. Founders Doug Quint and Bryan Petroff will join various other out-of-towers like former cheftestapant Richard Blais, Ludo Lefebvre, and Jon Shook & Vinny Dotolo of Animal in L.A. LONDONMeatopia UK is real, and is going to take place in London's Tobacco Dock on September 7th. Expect to see familiar meaty faces like Franklin Barbecue's Aaron Franklin, Tim Byres of SMOKE in Dallas, and meat purveyor to all the NYC restaurants, Pat LaFrieda. Tickets go on sale next Monday, June 3; £45 for entry plus two dishes and two drinks. [Hot Dinners]

NEW YORK CITY — Chef Mark Ladner of Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich's legendary NYC Italian restaurant Del Posto has "perfected a gluten free fresh pasta recipe." Despite his initial skepticism, Serious Eats's J. Kenji López-Alt ended up "thoroughly impressed" with the final product, which features French Laundry chef Thomas Keller's line of gluten-free flour, Cup 4 Cup. [Serious Eats]

CHICAGO — Former TODAY show broadcaster and Eater Chicago contributor Catherine De Orio has been selected as the new host of local dining show Check, Please!.
