It has only been a month since El Celler de Can Roca shot to the #1 position in the World's 50 Best Restaurants list, and already the Spanish restaurant has also become one of the world's toughest tables. El Celler de Can Roca is fully booked for the next 11 months and is only offering its waiting list, according to reservations head Manel de la Rubia. He further explains that the restaurant only accepts reservations 11 months ahead of time. (It will begin booking for May 2014 on June 1, so start planning now?)
Of course, it was already pretty difficult to get a table at El Celler de Can Roca. De la Rubia explains that, before the World's 50 Best, weekend reservations were required nine to ten months in advance. Meanwhile, midweeks were more like six or seven months in advance. But that's still a fairly significant jump in the three-and-a-half weeks since the World's 50 Best list was announced, just another sign of the award's growing significance in the culinary world. As third-ranked Osteria Francescana manager Giuseppe Palmieri explained back in March, "I think today what changes the manner of reservations is 50 Best. When you are between the 10 and the first, it's crazy how many very interesting young people come to visit you." So good luck with those reservations, Spain-bound travelers.
