Here's a video that goes behind the scenes of the stunning sculptural plates the Roca brothers of El Celler de Can Roca — currently ranked #1 on the S. Pellegrino World's 50 Best restaurant list — helped design. The elBulli Foundation connected the Rocas with multimedia artists Pere Gifre and Daniel Molina to create the series of plates. Ferran Adrià met the two artists when they were patrons at elBulli and worked with them to design plates of his own. Adrià says design is "like a continuation of what we already do. In cooking you can design." The Rocas' plates will debut at the Barcelona premier of their culinary opera El Somni (The Dream) on May 6th.

The video is a preview for the Interface exhibit in Spain, which showcases the combination of cuisine and design and is hosted by Molina with the support of organizations including the elBulli Foundation and Bonart magazine. Below, a look at how the sculptural plates came to be and a new trailer for El Somni.
