Feast Portland Announces Schedule For 2013

Heading into its second year, Feast Portland — officially Bon Appétit Presents: Feast Portland: A Celebration of Oregon Bounty — has announced its schedule, and it's packed with an enormous amount of chefs from across the country. Locally, the lineup includes Gregory Gourdet (Departure), Naomi Pomeroy (Beast), Andy Ricker (Pok Pok), Gabriel Rucker (Le Pigeon), Adam Sappington (The Country Cat), and more.

The festival also has national (and international) names, which includes Sean Brock (Husk, McCrady's), Jason Franey (Canlis), Aaron Franklin (Franklin Barbecue), Christopher Kostow (Meadowood), David McMillan and Frédéric Morin (Joe Beef), Jason Franey (Canlis), Danny Bowien, Christina Tosi, and many, many more (the entire lineup is below). The festival will take place September 19-22, 2013.

Returning from last year's events are the Night Market, which highlights global street food, and High Comfort, featuring "comfort food [that] gets pushed out of its comfort zone" (meat cereal!). New this year: a brunch series, which "will combine the culinary talents of a visiting chef and a Portland chef." As mentioned earlier this week, Feast Portland is the same weekend as Music City Eats in Nashville, so you have some decision making to do. After months of regional competitions at Whole Foods Market stores across the country, 12 butchers and fishmonger finalists are sharpening their knives to go head-to-tail for the glory of being named best in their craft. Finalists will be judged by an expert panel that includes top chefs and media on presentation, craftsmanship and swagger in dazzling demos of knife work. A new addition to the Feast Portland line-up, the Brunch Series will combine the culinary talents of a visiting chef and a Portland chef. Each duo will create a collaborative menu for Portland's most beloved meal, Sunday brunch.
