Things are getting confusing in Cannes with two films titled Chef being shopped, so Sony Pictures (which controls the Bradley Cooper Chef film) has sent a cease-and-desist letter to Aldamisa (which controls the Jon Favreau Chef film). According to the Hollywood Reporter, the cease-and-desist requests that Favreau's team change the title of their film on threat of legal action. Luckily, coming up with a title other than Chef shouldn't really be that hard.
According to Deadline Hollywood, news of the cease-and-desist come right on the heels of Bradley Cooper officially committing to be a part of the Sony Pictures project. Favreau has nabbed big names for his film recently too, including Scarlett Johansson and Robert Downey Jr. Both films tell the story of a chef who messes up his career and then gets it back in a bigger, better way. Favreau will come back with a food truck, whereas Cooper will come back with fine dining.
