Watch a Preview of the Roca's Amazing Culinary Opera

Take a look inside the amazing, magical and totally insane world of El Somni, the culinary opera created by the El Celler de Can Roca brothers. The opera premiered in Barcelona this week, but this video shows the first rehearsal with Joan, Josep and Jordi Roca, plus Franc Aleu, who designed the libretto. As has been previously described, 12 guests sit around a table in a multimedia dome as a 12-act opera swirls around them courtesy of robot musicians, graphic images, and the food itself as a player.

There's a lot going on in this eight-minute video — and it might be easier to understand if you speak Spanish — but do notice the table transformed into the moon's surface, mermaids serving drinks, those stunning sculptural plates the Roca brothers designed just for El Somni.
