Here's the Listicle '50 Things They Never Told You About Being a Chef'

New, 17 comments

Everyone has complaints about their jobs, but the quasi-defunct Canadian pastry chef blog Wake Up and Smell the Cake has "50 things they never told you about being a chef." (Well, 49 of them are complaints, the last one is "You will fall in love with your job and never look back.") The list was originally posted in November, but has been getting buzz on Reddit and Twitter in the past couple days.

So what didn't they tell you about being a chef? It hurts: there are several points concerning actual physical injuries, including butt rash. (Ew.) Other points include missing holidays, not having time for non-industry friends, developing a habit "whether it be coffee, cigarettes, alcohol, gambling, cannabis, cocaine, or even red bull," and all kinds of abuse from employers. Also: "You will not be allowed to call in sick for a hangover." Is there any job where you can do that? Below, the full list.
