A patron and a chef in Baltimore, MD are at odds over who had whom in a headlock and have pressed assault charges against each other. On Friday, March 22nd, a fight broke out following a night of bad service at the South Baltimore restaurant Liv2eat, according the The Baltimore Sun. Patron Wesley Doyle has pressed charges against chef and co-owner Kevin Perry for second degree assault. Perry has pressed charges against Doyle for second degree assault, reckless endangerment, and affray. The key fact in dispute is whether the chef or the diner put the other in a headlock.
Prior to the altercation, both sides report that Doyle, his wife, and their two daughters were upset about slow service and that Perry asked them to leave the restaurant "in not-so-nice terms." What happened next is at issue. Doyle alleges that Perry left the kitchen and put him in a headlock. Perry claims that Doyle entered the kitchen and put him in a headlock. While Perry's wife (the restaurant's manager) maintains that her husband was assaulted, one customer told The Baltimore Sun: "When I arrived on the scene, Kevin Perry had Mr. Doyle in a headlock. People behind him were trying to pull his left arm off of Mr. Doyle ? There were people saying, 'Kevin, don't do this'." The Baltimore City District Court will hear the trial on April 23rd.
