Hillary Dixler Canavan is Eater's restaurant editor and the author of the publication's debut book, Eater: 100 Essential Restaurant Recipes From the Authority on Where to Eat and Why It Matters (Abrams, September 2023). Her work focuses on dining trends and the people changing the industry — and scouting the next hot restaurant you need to try on Eater's annual Best New Restaurant list.

Movie producer Philippe Rousselet wants Javier Bardem to play culinary legend Ferran Adrià in the long-awaited elBulli film. While no casting decisions have been announced yet, Rousselet told the Hollywood Reporter that the Academy-Award winning actor is his "obvious first choice." (Eater also thinks that Bardem would be a good candidate for the role.) The film is based on Lisa Abend's book The Sorcerer's Apprentice, which chronicles life behind the scenes in the elBulli kitchen. Adrià is involved with the production as "an on-set advisor." Once described by Adrià as The Social Network meets Ratatouille, the film now has a whole new bunch of new angles: Rousselet is now calling it "The Breakfast Club meets Dead Poets Society meets The Social Network." Less rats, more angst and self-discovery.
