A Guide to Picking the Best Seat at a Restaurant

Designer Alex Cornell has clearly put a good amount of thought into restaurant seat strategy, and the result is his guide to picking the best seat at the table for six common seating arrangements. According to Cornell, the moment in which a group of people chooses seats at a restaurant is "one of the most complex social situations you will encounter." One must be careful to sit near the more interesting members of the group and avoid the less interesting ones. Your best bet, it seems, is a circular four top; should you encounter a two table situation of any size, you're screwed. Check out the infographic above (click to embiggen) for specific tips on tables of varying sizes and difficulty levels.
