S. Pellegrino Announces Asia's 50 Best Restaurants 2013

S. Pellegrino has announced their first ever list of Asia's 50 Best Restaurants, and in the number one spot is Yoshihiro Narisawa's Tokyo restaurant, Narisawa. The number two position also went to a Tokyo restuarant, Seiji Yamamoto's Nihonryori Ryugin. The top ten restaurants were rounded out by two restaurants each in Bangkok (Nahm, Gaggan), Hong Kong (Amber, 8 1/2 Otto e Mezzo Bombana), Singapore (Restaurant Andre, Iggy's), and Shanghai (Mr and Mrs Bund, Ultra Violet).

The Asia's 50 Best list is considers restaurants in Bangladesh, Burma/Myanmar, Brunei, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Macao, Malaysia, Maldives, Micronesia, Nauru, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Timor-Leste and Vietnam. The list is compiled much like the World's 50 Best list; that is, "900 international leaders in the restaurant industry" vote to determine who makes it. Awards also went to Janice Wong of Dessert Bar in Singapore for Asia's Best Pastry Chef, Singapore restaurant JAAN for the "One to Watch" award, Seiji Yamamoto for the Chefs' Choice Award, Paul Pairet of Mr & Mrs Bund and Ultra Violet in Shanghai for the Lifetime Achievement Award, and Duangporn "Bo" Songvisava of Bo.lan in Bangkok, Thailand for Asia's Best Female Chef.
