Gourmand Cookbook Awards 2013 Announced in Paris

The Paris Cookbook Fair was this past weekend, during which the Gourmand Awards for cookbooks were announced. The awards look at cookbooks (and a few magazines) from around the world in several languages, so a good chunk of the winners are currently unavailable in the US.

A familiar name took home Cookbook of the Year, however: Canadian chef Martin Picard's Au Pied de Cochon: Sugar Shack took home the top prize. Other titles that won categories included The Art of the Restaurateur by Nicholas Lander, Fool magazine out of Sweden, Jerusalem by Yotam Ottolenghi and Sami Tamimi. In two key ways the US failed this one: the World Cuisine: US and the Barbecue subject prizes both went to Danish books. Step it up, America. Below, the full list of winners.
