Here's the tale of a Japanese restaurant that charges customers for not clearing off their plates. Sapporo-based blogger Midori Yokoyama at Gold Rush ventured into Hachikyo to try out their infamously overflowing bowls of salmon roe, ikura. But to show respect for the fisherman, the restaurant forbids diners "to leave even one grain of rice in your bowl. Customers who do not finish their tsukko meshi must give a donation."
