Every member of the 50-person staff at a Florida restaurant received a tip from a grateful diner on Thanksgiving evening, who left a $835 gratuity to be divided amongst all workers. Florida Today reports that the diner, who declined to be publicly identified, is a regular of Melbourne, Florida's Chart House seafood chain. On Thanksgiving evening, the woman paid for her $30 turkey dinner, then instructed bartender Kim Gasperini — who worked an 11-hour holiday shift that day — to distribute a tip of $50 each for the two bartenders on staff, and $15 each for every other employee working on the holiday.
The unidentified diner, described as a retiree and friend of Gasperini, told Florida Today: "I'm very blessed and grateful that they spent their time away from their own families to serve us customers. That's the least I could do." Below, Gasperini talks to the local news about the generous Thanksgiving surprise.
