Nigella Lawson Faces Police Investigation for Drug Use

Here's your update on what happened in British TV food person/host of the Taste Nigella Lawson's crazy divorce trial in London over the past few days: after her ex-assistants were found not guilty of fraud, British authorities have said they will investigate Lawson for drug use. According to CNN, the Grillo sisters had testified that Lawson smoked marijuana in front of her kids (and would order KFC while doing so). Lawson herself admitted to using cocaine a handful of times, but according to the video she testified she "did not have a drug problem, I had a life problem."

The Metropolitan police have said they will investigate the evidence available, but that "the witness's admissions did not by themselves provide sufficient evidence to bring charges." There is "no imminent prospect" of charging Lawson with anything.

Lawson's brother defended his sister in the press, lashing out at both the media for writing "tendentious columns" as well as the trial's defense for adding the drug abuse storyline to the trial. He says the drug abuse claim was "added many months later, close to the beginning of the trial – and then mysteriously leaked onto the internet." Meanwhile, Nigella Lawson is beginning to promote the UK version of her television competition show The Taste, which premieres early next year.
