Florida Waitress Gifted $1,100 After Diner Cash Mixup

New, 1 comment

Happy Holidays to one Florida waitress, who ended up being tipped $1,100 thanks to a mixup. After server Samantha Knight found $1,000 in cash a diner left behind at Laishley Crab House in Punta Gorda, she chased after the man she believed to be the owner and gave him the money. But it turned out to be the wrong man and the true owner left without his cash. (The guy she erroneously gave the money to apparently also had a huge wad of cash on him that day. Pickpockets, head to Punta Gorda, Florida, where everyone apparently carries tons of money.)

After a news report aired discussing the incident, the man who mistakenly accepted the cash returned to the restaurant and gave back the money. The man who lost the money, who had since gone home to Chicago, gave the waitress the $1,000 as a Christmas present. Not to be outdone, the guy who accidentally took the cash also gave her $100. Below, a local news report.
