Here's a trailer for Farang, the first-ever Vice feature film all about Pok Pok chef Andy Ricker. The name of the documentary comes from the Thai word for "white foreigner," which Ricker has been through the course of his 25-year relationship with Thailand, its food, and its culture. In the trailer below, Ricker trains staff, cooks with his cookbook co-author JJ Goode, and travels through Thailand. On getting menu inspiration abroad, he says: "If I think it will work at the restaurant, I'll try to start thinking of it in context of how we'd serve it on the menu, and then I'll pursue learning how to cook it." The feature-length documentary — which also chronicles the opening of Ricker's Sen Yai in Portland — is due out in early 2014. Go, watch:
