EVERYWHERE— Traveling pork orgy Cochon 555 has announced the dates for its 2014 tour, kicking off January 26 in New York City. The culinary event, which pits local chefs against each other in a whole-hog competition celebrating heritage pigs, will visit (deep breath) Miami, LA, Napa Valley, Denver, Philadelphia, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, and Washington, DC. Tickets for the general admission tasting are $125; more information available here. [EaterWire]
SAN FRANCISCO— Tickets are now on sale for the fourth-annual Bay Area Brew Festival, set for January 11 at the Fort Mason Center. More than 60 breweries (including Firestone Walker, North Coast Brewing, and 21st Amendment Brewery) will pour a combined 180 beers at the event, and some of the city's top food trucks will park alongside to provide snacks in between sips. More information here. [EaterWire]
AUDIO INTERLUDE— Rolling Stone's Paul Solotaroff — who wrote the eye-opening look at animal cruelty on factory farms, "In the Belly of the Beast" — stops by the Leonard Lopate Show to discuss many of the details in his article. Among them: factory "farms" are less like farms and more like federal penitentiaries. [WNYC]
