Modernist Cuisine's Cooking Kits; Curtis Stone's New Gig

THE INTERNET— The merry-makers at Modernist Cuisine have launched an online "pantry" featuring Modernist-branded science/culinary kits with "all of the tools and Modernist ingredients needed to learn the techniques of gelling." Both the "Gel Noodle Kit" and "Spherification Kit" include ingredients and recipes for budding Nathan Myhrvolds; other fun items in the Modernist pantry include a "Rapid Caviar Maker." [EaterWire]

THE TV SETTop Chef Masters host Curtis Stone has landed another television hosting gig: He's been named the official "guest co-host" of The Chew, stepping in whenever one of the regular hosts takes time off. Stone's first hosting stint starts next Tuesday, November 12. [The Wrap]

ITALY— Meanwhile, in Italy, McDonald's will launch a new burger made from local Piedmontese and Chianina beef. It's the chain's third incarnation of an Italian-specific burger (called the "McItaly," obviously); the burger will hit menus on November 13. [Burger Business]
