Watch Alice Waters and Kermit Lynch Talk About Celebrating Food and Berkeley in the '70s

Last week, restaurateur/dreamer Alice Waters and wine importer Kermit Lynch — longtime friends and frequent collaborators in Berkeley — engaged in a conversation at the New York Public Library in what Lynch called "the first time I've spoken in front of an entirely sober audience." In the 90-minute conversation moderated by Paul Holdengraber, the duo reminisce about Berkeley's food scene in the early '70s (when Waters and Lynch hung out at a hybrid Indian/Mexican restaurant), talk about the importance of knowing where food and "tastes" come from, and the idea of "perfection" at Chez Panisse.
