Austin's Indie Chefs Week; New Year's Splurge at Minibar

AUSTIN— Austin has christened January 7-11, 2014 to be "Indie Chefs Week," featuring more than 30 guest chefs participating in five nights' worth of collaborative dinners. Each night will feature a different multi-course dinner — all at Foreign & Domestic — cooked up by chefs like Jason Neroni (LA), Jason French (Portland), and Anthony Fusco (NYC). More information and tickets here. [EaterWire]

WASHINGTON, DC— Today in rich people things: Eater DC notes that José Andrés's ultra exclusive Minibar has released reservations for two seatings on New Year's Eve, and each represent a major bump up from its normal $225 tasting menu. The later seating on December 31 will cost $350 per person, while the event at Barmini will set you back $275. [Eater DC]

NEW YORK CITY— Eater NY checks in on Cronut king Dominique Ansel's online Cronut pre-order system, and apparently, the site was "swamped" after going live at 11a.m. Get back in line: Pre-orders are sold out through December 15. [Eater NY]
