Australian McDonald's Deters Teens by Blasting Opera

Teens can sure be awful, so one McDonald's in Australia has decided to do something about it. According to the Macarthur Chronicle, a McDonald's in Mt. Annan has started playing classical music and opera during late night hours to "deter young people from loitering at the store." Apparently the store has been relying on the Three Tenors: Luciano Pavarotti, Jose Carreras, and Placido Domingo. The operations manager says that it's a bit too soon to declare the program a success, but he says he has "noticed a reduction in the number of young people hanging around." Based on reactions on the Macarthur Chronicle Facebook page, it seems that locals are pretty happy with the teen repellent music selection, for the most part. Says one local: "I work nights nearby and it has made a massive difference already to the lingering and loitering in the carpark."
