Rachael Ray's Book Competition; NYC's Typhoon Benefit

BOOK CLUB— TV foodperson Rachael Ray has announced the launch of the "Great American Cookbook Competition," a thing done in tandem with the Rachael Ray show and her imprint at Atria, Rachael Ray Books. Interested parties must submit three original recipes and a cooking demo video that doubles as book pitch; according to a press release, "Rachael is looking for a first time author who hasn't attended culinary school for more than 12 months." BROOKLYN— Chef Dale Talde and the team at Talde play host to a lineup of top NYC restaurants during a "Taste 4 The Philippines" benefit on Wednesday, December 4. Eater NY reports that spots like Toro, Roberta's, Mile End, and Pig & Khao are among the restaurants appearing at the tasting event, which will also include booze, sake, and a silent auction. All proceeds benefit World Vision, a humanitarian organization currently on the ground in the Philippines. Tickets are $125 and available here. [Eater NY]
