Shake Shack empire builder/restaurateur Danny Meyer has announced plans to open an offshoot of his popular Blue Smoke chainlet, in the form of a "new bar with a Southern accent" called Porchlight (not to be confused with the fake Porchlight restaurant on Portlandia). The 4,000-square-foot bar, slated for NYC's West Chelsea neighborhood, is a project with Blue Smoke co-founder Mark Maynard-Parisi, who will oversee day-to-day operations in tandem with Blue Smoke's Kari Matthews. Though few menu details are available at this time, a press release reveals Porchlight will offer "signature cocktails, regional microbrews and soulful, Southern-inspired bar food."
In the presser, Maynard-Parisi says the restaurant aesthetics will create a "welcoming and timeless gathering place," designed by Parts and Labor Design (The Elm, Atera). Projected opening: Fall 2014. More information as it becomes available.
