Last night on the Colbert Report, host Stephen Colbert declared his favorite holiday Thanksgiving under attack from Hanukkah, which happens to fall on the same day this year. Colbert is concerned because the two holidays have nothing in common: "Hanukkah celebrates the struggle of an oppressed people's fight against invading conquerers, while Thanksgiving is about our healthy and nurturing relationship with the Indians. " Colbert worries for the future of "America's sacred day," speculating that children will believe "Thanksgiving started when the Wampanoag sat down with the Maccabees and the yams lasted for eight nights." He also demonstrates the difficulty of drawing hand menorahs instead of hand turkeys, getting permanent marker on his face. Go, watch:
