Pastry chef Christophe Michalak (of Paris' Hotel Plaza Athénée) has opened his own pastry school, dubbed Michalak Masterclass, in Paris. France Today attributes the school to the "top chef effect," noting that the rise of pastry-related cooking programs (including Michalak's own show Dans la peau d'un chef) has increased attention on "haute" pâtisseries.
