Starbucks is reaching to Twitter for new ways to give the gift of coffee. Tweet-a-coffee allows you to send $5 gift cards with a single tweet to anyone you desire- friends, family or celebrities whose tweets you stalk. Linking your Starbucks and Twitter profiles together already let you add money to your coffee account. Now, after signing up on the Starbucks site, all you have to do is reply @tweetacoffee before the username of the person receiving the gift.
Starbucks Chief Digital Officer Adam Brotman wrote on the Starbucks blog, "With tweet-a-coffee, you can easily tweet a $5 Starbucks Card eGift to the people on Twitter you'd love to meet for a cup of coffee but will probably never get the chance." (The promo video actually suggests that you "tweet Starbucks to your yoga teacher.") To redeem the certificate, the recipient just has to show the link to the cashier who will then scan the bar code. The first 100,000 people to participate in Tweet-a-coffee will recieve a $5 gift card from Starbucks. Where was Tweet-a-cronut when we needed it?
