Watch a Trailer for the Tom's Restaurant Documentary

New York City's Tom's Restaurant is best known from its facade's frequent appearances on Seinfeld, but a new documentary by filmmaker Gian Franco Morini argues that the diner — a neighborhood fixture since the 1940s — offers far more than pop-culture import. (Though interviews with Tom's longtime regulars reveal a cast of colorful characters who have made large contributions to society, ranging from Nobel Prize-winners to a onetime actor who appeared in Deep Throat.)

The trailer for A Documentary About Everything also features interviews with current owner Mike Zoulis, who's presided over Tom's since the '80s. "It's not necessarily Seinfeld or Suzanne Vega," Zoulis says of the diner's longevity. "We're here thanks to Columbia, thanks to the neighborhood people who patronize us, day in and day out."
