EVERYWHERE— Saveur magazine reveals its winners for the 2013 Culinary Travel Awards, acknowledging the world's best restaurant cities (large and small), top hotel restaurants (LA's the Bazaar by José Andrés, London's Dinner by Heston Blumenthal), and best hotel in-room dining (like Paris' Four Seasons Hotel George V). The full list of winners is available here. [Saveur]
THE FRIENDLY SKIES— Food & Wine and Delta Airlines have challenged four chefs — Hugh Acheson, Kelly English, Linton Hopkins, and George Mendes — in a mini Top-Cheffish competition, with the ultimate prize being a spot on "Delta's elite culinary team." Four episodes of Cabin Pressure Cook-Off are streaming online: The first episode sees the chefs attempt to re-imagine their signature dish as an in-flight-ready appetizer. [Food & Wine]
SANTA MONICA— Chef Craig Thornton, of LA's underground pop-up Wolvesmouth, has teamed with artist Matthew Bone to create an instillation at the Santa Monica Museum of Art. Cut Your Teeth is on-view now through October 26 (with plans to take it to the Deitch Gallery in NYC). The preview video features slow-motion frames of a wolf eating, then looks at Thornton and Co. at work in the kitchen. Go, watch:
