Eater NY has an look at one of the city's most anticipated fall openings, Contra, a tasting-menu-only restaurant from a trio of up-and-comers: chef Fabian von Hauske (an alum of Faviken and Noma), chef Jeremiah Stone (Isa), and sommelier Linda Milagros Violago (who worked at Mugaritz). Each night, the five-course, $55 tasting menu changes — thus far, courses have included dishes like "swordfish, almonds, herbs" and "monkfish, eggplant, spigarello."
As von Hauske and Stone told Eater earlier this year, the menu and space both reflect a "clean, spare" aesthetic: "Basically, we want to be serious but not take ourselves too seriously," von Hauske says. "We just want to charge a fair amount so that we can do food that's interesting and that people like."
