Last week New York chef April Bloomfield and restaurateur Ken Friedman opened their first San Francisco restaurant, a revamp of the beloved Tosca Cafe and one of the most anticipated openings of the Fall. Eater SF takes a look inside the restaurant, and finds a brand new kitchen, a new wine library mounted to the wall, and cleaned and restored paintings. Much of the space remains similar to the original Tosca, with checkerboard floors, dark wood panelling on the walls, and red booths (though they've been upgraded from vinyl to leather). Eater SF calls the menu from Bloomfield and chef de cuisine Josh Even "an Italian slant on the approachable pub grub [Bloomfield has] become known for in New York." Apparently former owner Jeannette Etheredge still plans to make regular visits to the bar.
