April Bloomfield and Ken Friedman's San Francisco restaurant Tosca Cafe, one of the most anticipated openings of the Fall, is set to open today. Eater SF has the exclusive on the opening menu and calls the dishes Bloomfield and chef de cuisine Josh Even are offering "an Italian slant on the approachable pub grub [Bloomfield has] become known for in New York."
The San Francisco Chronicle has a feature on the buildout in which Friedman says, "We have to get it totally right...Because we're interlopers, we're coming from out of town. Everyone loved Tosca, so if we f- it up, forget about doing anything else here." The Wall Street Journal also has a day in the life Bloomfield. The Friedman/Bloomfield takeover of the historic Tosca Cafe has been in the works since January.
