Food and drink events are plentiful throughout the month of October from New York to Sydney and beyond. Some have extended runs throughout the month, such as the deep-fried madness that is the State Fair of Texas. The annual Good Food Month returns to Sydney, Australia, with headliner René Redzepi as well. New York City is playing host to a number of food events this month, starting with Identità New York at Eataly, a film festival dedicated to food, and, of course, the annual New York City Wine & Food Festival. Meanwhile, Vegas also has a number of events in the works, and Washington, DC, will be the site of the second iteration of a rather large craft beer festival. Here's the full line-up:
State Fair of Texas
When: September 27 — October 20, 2013
Where: Dallas, TX
What: The State Fair of Texas returns to Dallas this month with an absurd amount of fried food. Deep-fried things on the menu this year include a wrap of Nutella, spaghetti and meatballs, a chocolate chip burrito, chicken-fried meatloaf, and an entirely fried Thanksgiving dinner.
EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival
When: September 27 — November 11, 2013
Where: Orlando, FL
What: Disney World's epic food festival returns to Epcot this year for about a month and a half of festivities. Unsurprisingly, the globe-trotting theme park will offer international marketplaces, as well as seminars, mixology lessons and something called "a Party for the Senses." There will also be Marketplace Discovery passports available to be stamped.
Good Food Month
When: October 1 — October 31, 2013
Where: Sydney, Australia
What: The Sydney Morning Herald's Good Food Month is back with more than 500 events in Sydney and beyond. In addition to all kinds of dinners and lunches, this monthlong festival includes a local edition of the French Omnivore food festival, an Asian night market, and a day of Barbecue Madness. There are also a few events with Noma chef René Redzepi — who will be there promoting his new book — such as a dinner he'll be doing with the likes of Neil Perry, Peter Gilmore, David Chang, and more.

Where: New York, NY
What: New York City is getting its first-ever Nordic gastronomy festival in NORTH this month. This festival will highlight the cooking of New York chefs who are focusing on Nordic cuisine, such as Mads Refslund of Acme and Daniel Burns of Luksus. But they're also flying in some big names straight out of Scandinavia to cook dinners, lead classes, and more throughout the festival — including the return of Amass chef Matt Orlando.
Latin Flavors, American Kitchen
When: October 2 — October 4, 2013
Where: San Antonio, TX
What: The Culinary Institute of America is hosting its annual symposium on Latin cuisines at its San Antonio campus this month. Speakers include Rick Bayless, Enrique Olvera, Maricel Presilla, and chefs from across Latin America who will reflect on the ingredients of the cuisine and discuss topics such as how non-natives can approach cooking Latin American food.
Greenwich Wine & Food Festival
When: October 3 — October 5, 2013
Where: Greenwich, CT
What: Francois Payard, Joe Bastianich, Richard Blais, Graham Elliot, Duff Goldman, Dale Talde, and more are headlining this year's iteration of the Greenwich Wine & Food Festival. There's also going to be a "culinary village" full of tastings, a burger battle, and a celebration of all things barbecue.
Food & Wine All-Star Weekend
When: October 4 - October 6, 2013
Where: Las Vegas, NV
What: The fourth annual Food & Wine All-Star Weekend hits Vegas in October with headliners such as Joël Robuchon, Jean Georges Vongerichten, Michael Mina, and Shawn McClain. In addition to brunches, dinners and boozy showcases, they're also hosting a burger bash with Robuchon and Mina on October 5.
Identità New York
When: October 4 — October 6, 2013
Where: New York, NY
What: Eataly is hosting the fourth iteration of Identità New York, which features American and Italian chefs cooking together using ingredients such as egg, tomato, salted codfish, cheese, pasta, and rice. Seminars and dinners feature chefs Mario Batali, Daniel Boulud, Massimo Bottura, Matthew Lightner, Davide Scabin, and Cesare Battisti, among others.
Counter Culture Coffee's Variety Show
When: October 5 — October 19
Where: Durham, Atlanta, Asheville, Chicago, Washington, DC, Philadelphia, Boston, New York City
What: North Carolina-based Counter Culture Coffee is going on tour this month for a series of events at its various training centers on the East Coast and in Chicago. These tours will include samples of coffee varieties from Robusta to Gesha, plus insight from 2013 World Brewers Cup Champion Erin McCarthy. There will also be prize drawings, food, and beverages.
Gastronomika
When: October 6 - October 9, 2013
Where: San Sebastian, Spain
What: This year's Gastronomika is going to have a huge focus on London and its vibrant dining scene, bringing in chefs such as Clove Club's Isaac McHale, Pollen Street Social's Jason Atherton, and a whole slew of others, including Spanish chefs working in London. But, of course, Spanish superstars such as Eneko Atxa, Elena Arzak, Martin Berasetegui, Quique Dacosta and Andoni Luis Aduriz will be there, as well San Francisco's Corey Lee.
Las Vegas Wine & Food Festival

Where: Las Vegas, NV
What: Chefs such as Charlie Palmer, Stephen Hopcraft, Laurent Tourondel, and Bradley Ogden will be taking part in the Las Vegas Wine & Food Festival, which is a daylong celebration of the local food scene at the Red Rock Casino and Resort.
La Jolla Art & Wine Festival
When: October 12 — October 13, 2013
Where: La Jolla, CA
What: Beyond all the art and wine, the La Jolla Art & Wine Festival offers a wine and beer garden — open on both days — featuring beers from the likes of Ballast Point, and Stone Brewing Company, plus a number of wineries such as Francis Ford Coppola Winery. There's also going to be a food court where vendors include Nick's BBQ and more.
New York City Wine & Food Festival
When: October 17 - October 20, 2013
Where: New York, NY
What: Chefs from all over New York City are going to be in attendance at this year's New York City Wine & Food Festival. There's going to be cronut mastermind Dominique Ansel, Blue Hill Farm's Dan Barber, Eleven Madison Park's Daniel Humm, Momofuku's David Chang, and the one and only Daniel Boulud. Plus chefs such as Alex Atala, Rick Bayless and John Besh are coming in from elsewhere in the world. for tastings, seminars, dinners, and whatnot.
Isthmus Food & Wine Festival

What: Chefs and artisans in Madison, WI, are coming together in October for the two-day Isthmus Food & Wine Festival. Themes of the festival events include theatrical bartending, a mac & cheese smackdown, weird vegetables, and more, while exhibitors will be on hand with all kinds of food and drink samples.
Snallygaster

What: When the Life is Beautiful Festival hits Vegas in October, chefs such as Scott Conant, Jonathan Waxman, Hubert Keller, Cat Cora, Rick Moonen, Donald Link, Tom Colicchio, Paul Bartolotta, Charlie Palmer, Nancy Silverton, and more will be there for the first-ever edition of this two-day celebration "of how beautiful life truly is."
