Rumors of a syndicated morning talk show with chef/restaurateur Bobby Flay and Food Networkperson Giada de Laurentiis date back to January 2012, and today the New York Post's Michael Starr cites unnamed sources that the show — called Giada and Bobby — is "off the menu" and "not going forward." Not so fast, though: apparently CBS Television Distribution might have passed on the show, but there's still hope yet. Reached for comment, Bobby Flay explained to Eater: "CBS syndication passed but there are other networks interested in the project." He elaborated: "It's the natural progression of these kinds of deals."

Last June in Aspen, Flay told Eater that if the CBS deal worked out, the earliest the show could've gotten on the air was September 2013. So at this point if Giada and Bobby still happens, it'll probably be a little later than that. Based on the success of ABC's daytime foodstravaganza The Chew, there's still room on TV for food-fueled perkiness first thing in the morning.
