Famous cakeman Duff Goldman of Baltimore's Charm City Cakes was responsible for one of yesterday's official presidential inauguration cakes and here it is in all its star-spangled, nine-tiered, 40-pound glory. Charm City Cakes' marketing director tells ABC News that the bakers went with a military inspiration given that their cake was for the Commander-in-Chief Ball, so there are seals from all the five branches of the military on the cake, as well as the requisite stars and stripes.
The cake — complete with red velvet, lemon poppy seed, pumpkin chocolate chip and pineapple coconut flavors — stood at about four feet tall and was expected to weigh between 40 and 50 pounds. Here's a photo gallery depicting the preparations of the cake, plus video explaining how Charm City Cakes got involved.
