Disney World's Magic Kingdom is getting a brand new, super huge French restaurant called Be Our Guest as part of its Fantasyland expansion. The restaurant, which is modeled after Disney's Beauty and the Beast, will have three dining rooms and seat a whopping 500 people. And those people will be drinking: The restaurant will also serve beer and wine, a first for the Magic Kingdom. Walt Disney parks VP of Food and Beverage Maribeth Bisienere told the Orlando Sentinel the decision to get boozey was made on the basis of the restaurant's French theme and because "It made more sense to do it than not to do it." Drink up, stressed out theme park parents.
Anyway, the restaurant will have a pretty classic French menu full of mussels and charcuterie and steak frites and whatnot (more on the menu here). While the restaurant's main dining room will look like the film's giant chandelier ballroom, the other dining rooms will feature "twirling, larger-than-life figures of Belle and Beast" and a "mysterious West Wing, featuring an enchanted rose." Is a "mysterious" dining room a good thing or a bad thing? Be Our Guest officially opens, along with the rest of Fantasyland, December 6, although there will apparently be previews before that. (They're taking reservations now.) Below, a whole bunch of videos of Be Our Guest, including interviews with "Imagineers" and the restaurant's beverage director, who explains the wine list.
