So many people turned out yesterday for Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day that the company released a statement thanking its "loyal" customers and confirmed that "it was a record-setting day." The promotion wasn't organized by the company, but instead was prompted by politics person Mike Huckabee after the enormous backlash over the anti-gay marriage statements from Chick-fil-A's COO Dan Cathy.

The release also said: "We understand from news reports that Friday may present yet another opportunity for us to serve with genuine hospitality, superior service and great food." Which is, of course, a vague reference to the planned event called National Same Sex Kiss Day at Chick Fil A. It's scheduled nation-wide for tomorrow at 8PM EST. So far a scant 12,000 people on Facebook have said they're going, but there's a Tumblr set up for people to submit photos and video. It seems unlikely that people will actually order the chicken, but who knows.
