Grub Street watched an hour of Food Network with Joe Bastianich. On Giada De Laurentiis' Giada at Home, Bastianich loses it: "She's making a frittata with vegetable oil — what the fuck? ... No self-respecting Italian would ever make a frittata with vegetable oil... Vegetable oil you put in your car. It's a low-class lipid, one degree above lamp oil." He also calls his mom's show on PBS "the last remnant of intelligent food television." [GSNY]
