Three days into California's foie gras ban and the rebels are out and swinging: Cafe Mimosa in San Clemente served a six course "Foie You!" menu on Monday for $150 that featured foie gras in every course. Owner Antoine Price tells the OC Register, "They can lock me up if they want...I don't mind."
While Price doesn't exactly face jail time, he could be fined up to $1,000 (if the violation is actually pursued). The foie gras Cafe Mimosa served was purchased legally before the ban was enacted, and Price wonders "Can the state of California actually tell me to take my food and throw it away?" Well, if Monday night's successful dinner is any indication, it seems like they're not planning on it.
