The News & Documentary Emmy Awards nominations have been announced, and the HBO documentary A Matter of Taste: Serving Up Paul Liebrandt is among the nominees for Outstanding Arts and Cultural Programming. The film, directed by Sally Rowe, follows New York chef Paul Liebrandt through a decade of his career up through the opening of his current restaurant, Corton. A Matter of Taste also won this year's James Beard Award for Best Documentary.
When the film was released, Liebrandt told Eater it was about being young and passionate: "The subject matter is obviously that I do cook for a living, but it could easily be that I was a documentary filmmaker, for example, trying to make my first movie, or a struggling actor, or anything to do like that. It could be anything. It just happens that I cook." If you haven't seen it, A Matter of Taste is out on DVD now. And in the meantime, check out the trailer, a preview of the DVD's special features, and a post screening Q&A.
