British chef Angela Hartnett of the one Michelin-starred Murano in London will be opening a restaurant at the upscale Lime Wood Hotel in the South of England in early 2013. Serving "an extensive menu of Italian-influenced forest dishes," the as-yet unnamed "brasserie-luxe" restaurant will be have a focus on foraging. (Lime Wood is situated on the edge of New Forest National Park.) Says current Lime Wood Head Chef Luke Holder, who will also be a chef at the restaurant, "Our plan is to make maximum use of the forest produce that is available literally on the doorstep." Here's a press release:
ANGELA HARTNETT TO JOIN LIME WOOD HOTEL
NEW RESTAURANT TO OPEN IN JANUARY 2013
Lime Wood Hotel is excited to announce that award-winning, Michelin-starred chef Angela Hartnett MBE will be joining forces with Luke Holder, Lime Wood’s Head Chef, to create a brand new restaurant at the much-celebrated New Forest hotel. Lime Wood’s new restaurant, name still to be decided, will open in late January 2013 in the hotel’s original David Collins-designed room, which is undergoing an extensive makeover by Martin Brudnizki (Caprice, Corrigan’s, Hix, Sheekey’s, Oyster Bar).
In creating this partnership, the team behind Lime Wood continues to put innovation at the top of its agenda. As one of Britain’s most successful, best-loved and busiest chefs, Angela needs no introduction. Her informal, grounded style of cooking with its Italian accent (courtesy of her Italian grandmother) will complement the fresh approach that Lime Wood’s new restaurant will bring to the country house dining room. Expect a relaxed yet confident service, in keeping with the overall style of Lime Wood and a far cry from the hushed, over fussed experience of the 80s and 90s. The restaurant will be open seven days a week with an extensive menu of Italian-influenced forest dishes, pulling together both Hartnett’s and Holder’s much-admired signature styles. Relaxed brasserie-luxe service will show off the simple, yet carefully created dishes in a comfortable and unpretentious environment.
Inspired by the local foods available both farmed and foraged; Angela Hartnett commented that she was “very much looking forward not only to working with Luke and the team but also to working closely with the many very local artisan producers in the area. I think Lime Wood complements perfectly my Murano restaurant. They are a great bunch of fun yet really professional people at Lime Wood, that’s the reason why I wanted to work with them.”
Chairman of the Lime Wood Group, Robin Hutson, says, “We are thrilled to have Angela on board. I have been a long time admirer of her style and cannot wait for Luke and Angela to start working together. This is a natural partnership that will be one to watch in the coming months and years. Additionally, having worked with designer Martin Brudnizki during my time in the hotel industry, I know he will create one of the most innovative restaurant spaces in the UK.”
Luke Holder says, “I’ve always been a fan of Angela’s food and am really excited to be working with her. We are already working together on dishes for the new restaurant it’s all coming together very well indeed. We've always shared the same culinary ethos coupled with a joint passion and a core influence from the Italian kitchen. Our plan is to make maximum use of the forest produce that is available literally on the doorstep.”
