Urban farmer/retired professional basketball player Will Allen stopped by the Colbert Report to talk about his new book, The Good Food Revolution: Growing Healthy Food, People, and Communities (buy on Amazon). When Allen brings up urban food deserts, Stephen Colbert's confused: cities do have food. Fast food: "It's salty and crispy, the best possible kind of food for you. And it lasts forever!" Also: "Kohlrabi chips are not going to get the kids off the corner." Allen seems to be doing all right, though: his Growing Power, Inc. has 17 regional training centers in the US, all teaching people about urban farming.
